This is simple — we love the holidays. It is for pure entertainment and our own personal enjoyment, and it lets us entertain people locally and from miles around. All the visitors give us so much positive feedback that it makes the time and expense well worth it.

No. After 25 years, the public Holiday Habits yard haunt concluded following the 2025 season. There is no public haunt to visit. Everything we built lives on in the photo and video archive on this site.

No. Joe is a Christian who does not believe in devil worship or satanic rituals, and the display never had religious undertones of any kind. It was good clean Halloween fun for kids up to age 99.

About 500 hours. It was a daily project of setup, maintenance and adding new props right up until Halloween Day — and that does not include building the props, which happened all year long.

It was always a team effort. Years ago it was mostly Joe, his mom, his sister and then his son. It grew into a full crew of family, friends and neighbors to make something this large happen.

Props were built all year long, but setup really started midsummer with organizing and maintenance. You could see the yard transition beginning in early September, and the display opened in early October.

The majority of the display lives in the garage, the garage attic and the basement. Every year it took up more and more space.

Over 15,000 visitors came through in 2012, with more than 1,200 on Halloween night alone. It grew from there with new additions and local press.

It catered to a wide age range. There were humorous props and there were props that sent people running. If a child startled easily, we always suggested visiting during the day when it was not so scary.
