This is a post about how to install your Christmas lights on your parkway trees in Georgian Place and what we use to do it safely, efficiently and to maintain a consistent look throughout the neighborhood.
THE LOOK: Red on top (branches) and white on bottom (tree trunks).
POLE: Many trees in Georgian Place require an extension pole. We have listed our recommendation below after using many brands/types over the past 12+ years.
LIGHTS: A minimum of 3 Red (100 Bulb strands) and 1 White (100 Bulb Strands). LED bulbs- Are more durable, use less energy, allow for greater expansion to add more lights in the future, but are also more expensive. The number of strands really depends on the size of your trees and your own budget of what you want to spend. Again, I have accumulated more strands over the years.
CORDS: One of the best ways we have found is to use Gorilla tape. Like duct tape but stronger. Place the extension cord in the sidewalk joint. Use one strip of Gorilla tape down the center of the cord going across the sidewalk and two over lapping pieces on each side of the first tape. Use U shaped nails or landscape pins on each side of the sidewalk to hold the cord in place.
This is our annual tradition in Georgian Place so lets light it up and make is as festive as we can for this holiday season.

The Extension Pole
At Holiday Habits we use extension poles for many specific uses during the holiday season. These are great poles for inside and outside decorating and many other uses during the year. These are the poles we recommend for decorating your parkway trees or hanging lights on your gutters. Highly recommended, easy to use, durable poles.
Lights
At Holiday Habits we use very specific Sunnydaze LED lights for our trees. We have had some of these light strands for over 12 years. These are very durable lights and strands. Being LED and high quality you can connect up to 40 strands together. These are UL listed for indoor/outdoor use with up to a 35,000 hour life span and only use 4.8 watts per strand. Over the long run these will save you money and hassle of cheaper lights.
Extension Cords
At Holiday Habits we use a wide variety of extension cords for specific uses during the install process. Here are some of the ones we have used so far:
Tools & Other Accessories
At Holiday Habits we use a wide variety of tools and accessories for specific uses during the install process. Sometimes we need to split or extend extension cords so we need Grounded Splitters/Adapters. All installations should have Landscape Staples holding down the cords going across the sidewalk. All installations should have Gorilla Tape covering the cords across the sidewalk. Here is a list of items we use:
